Mary Barnet has published a number of chapbooks and was featured in the international magazine Poet. Her first book was "The New American, Collected Poems" and  her second book "Arrival". Her book of sonnets will be coming out in late 2014 or early 2015.

That day

I thought I had found all :
that place where life resides.
Still, something inside me cries :
a confrontation that seems so small
midst canyons of death so tall.
My inner ache never subsides
in that place where pain abides.
I am like a player who cannot catch the ball.
Yet that cannot be all there is !
Will not ideas overcome ?
Will nothing my losses trump ?
Seltzer satisfies with a delicious fizz ;
there is pie from which to pluck  a plum !
Yet know, the axe makes the greatest tree a stump !
